Bulletproof is not just a highly customizable front end - it also includes an entirely new back end admin template featuring a fresh, contemporary design. Bulletproof was being developed during the latter stages of Serendipity 1.2 development and is the first administrative template to utilize many new classes and id's introduced in the 1.2 release.
There are actually two admin template stylesheets. The default is a 970 pixel, fixed width design. Why fixed width? Simple - the designer has much more control when the template is heavily dependent upon graphics, which is certainly the case with BP. For those with the ability to do so, it also allows a user to replace the background banner image with a fixed width banner image they use on the frontend.
"But I like fluid/liquid/percentage based layouts..." Is that what you are thinking? No problem. We have you covered there as well. The default admin stylesheet is /templates/bulletproof/admin/style.css. As mentioned, this is the fixed width version. If you prefer the fluid version, that stylesheet is /templates/bulletproof/admin/style_liquid.css. We don't quite have the same flexibility for "options" on the back end that we do on the front end (yet), so you need to make this change manually! Simply rename style.css to style_fixed.css and rename style_fluid.css to style.css. Reload your browser window and the fluid stylesheet should be active. The fluid version may be preferred by those with exceptionall wide, or narrow displays, or those who want different banner graphics that, like the fluid design, are designed on a "repeat-x" basis. The graphics are slightly different from the fixed width version, but every attempt was made to keep both versions as similar to each other as the different rendering techniques would allow.
"Fluid width was fun for awhile, but now I want the fixed width back".
Really? I cannot blame you. Even though I personally have a display resolution of 1280 x 1024, I still prefer the fixed width. Remember our file renaming above? We renamed that fixed width file for a reason. To return to fixed width, first rename style.css (assuming this file is the previous fluid version) to style_fluid.css, and rename style_fixed.css back to style.css.
If you do not want to include the BP admin template in your particular BP derivative template, simply delete the /admin/ folder from your template and s9y's default administration template will be used. Of course, feel free to develop your own, unique admin template if you are so inspired!
"This admin template rocks! Can I use it outside the BP framework?" Yes! If you have a serendipity frontend template that has no custom admin interface of its own, simply copy the /templates/bulletproof/admin folder, including its subfolder /img/ to the template folder you are using for your frontend. You are not, however, to bundle the BP admin template into any template intended for distribution that is NOT based on the BP framework.
